Richland Public Health provides a variety of programs that protect and promote health throughout Richland County. We offer services for local business and people of all ages under the direction of our Board of Health and in compliance with state and federal laws.

The Environmental Health Division (https://richlandhealth.org/departments/environmental-health/) has programs that educate our community, prevent exposures and protect our citizens from adverse effects of illnesses, diseases, and injuries in our county. Environmental specialists called sanitarians ensure that restaurants and other food establishments meet local and state standard. They regulate residential and small flow sewage systems, tattoo and body piercing parlors, solid waste landfills, swimming pools, and campgrounds. This division monitors school environments, inspects public nuisances such as illegal sewage discharges, trash accumulations, rodent and other animal and insect disease vectors, mosquito control, and other potential public health problems. Plumbing inspectors in this division inspect and permit residential and commercial plumbing installations to ensure safety and sanitation.
